Surgery

Hannah had surgery on Friday to repair her umbilical hernia. It was a minor proceedure and all went well, but it was so hard to see my little girl suffer. Thank you to all of you who prayed for us that day.
We had to be at the hospital at 5:45 a.m. I was thankful that the lack of sleep didn't seem to affect her. She was in good spirits most of the morning. I am so proud of how brave she was!
Hannah was pretty scared and exhausted after the surgery. I was so glad to be able to be there with her and comfort her during this time.

Today (Saturday) Hannah has been doing very well. She was able to run and play almost as if nothing ever happened. I can tell she is still in a bit of pain, though. She is still very nervous about bending over to pick toys off the ground. She is also a little worried about her new belly button. At first she thought that they had taken her belly button, and she told us that she wanted her old belly button back. I had a good talk with her tonight, though, and she seemed to understand what happened a little more. She even wanted to look at it for the first time! I think it will only take a few more days for her to be completely back to normal.

Birthday Party

We celebrated Hannah's birthday with all of her friends last Thursday. She was very excited to share a party with her friend, Aubrey, who turned 4 at the end of August. They had an "Olympics" party. We had diving (jumping into a little pool), balance beam, water balloon toss, and floor exercise (somersaults in the grass). The kids seemed to have a great time!

Ellie, Cameron, Hannah, Aubrey, and Abby posing by the pool.
Hannah after finishing the balance beam...check out the finishing pose!
Ellie on the balance beam. Notice the tongue out for concentration!
Hannah and Aubrey opened their presents while all of their friends admired. Hannah has slept in this tent every nap and bedtime since she got it!
Aubrey and Hannah loved the ice cream cone cupcakes!

Mischief & Cupcakes

Uncontrollable laughter...always the first sign that the girls are getting into some kind of trouble. I walked out into the living room yesterday to find Hannah and Ellie coaxing Jasper into the living room and onto the recliner (Jasper is not allowed on our carpet, let alone our furniture). Of course I just HAD to get some pictures before I scolded them!

Don't they look so Innocent?
Zach was completely obvlivious to the whole thing!

Today we made cupcakes for Hannah's 4th birthday party. Of course I spend most of my time trying to convince the girls NOT to stick their fingers in the batter! They obviously think the mixer is too loud!
We are attempting to make ice cream cone cupcakes...Hannah and Ellie held the cones while I filled them with cupcake batter.
The best part of baking...licking the batter off the spoons!
The finished product. Pretty cute, huh? When we were finished Hannah told me that they were "the silliest muffins I ever saw!"
